Curiosity Rover Lands on Mars Safely

I’m so excited! NASA landed the Curiosity Rover on Mars safely last night. Yup, the government may have killed the space shuttle program, but NASA managed to knock another one out of the park.

Minutes after touching down on the planet, Curiosity sent back this picture as proof of life on Mars:

Just kidding!

Here are the real images. The one on the right was the first to be sent after touchdown. Yup, it photographed its own wheel. The one on the left is the second shot, which shows the rover’s shadow against the landscape of Mars.

I think this is so exciting!

What do you think of this milestone in space history?
