In his new novel, author Scott SIgler weaves a gripping sci-fi tale titled Alive: Book One of the Generations Trilogy.
Aimed at the Young Adult market, Alive tells the adventures of a group of teenagers who wake up in coffins, with no knowledge of who they are or how they got trapped.
Their only hope lies with a young woman who goes by the name Em and who must lead them to survival at the same time she is learning about herself.
I loved this book. The narrative is told through the eyes of Em, and you clearly feel her frustration and fear as she works to figure out who they are and where they are.
She has to work through not only threats to the group of survivors, but from within, since she’s not the only one who wants to lead.
Em is strong and smart, but with the emotions of a young girl still finding her way in the world. Her fellow survivors are also a mixture of personalities and abilities. They all know things they don’t remember learning, and later in the story, you discover why and it’s a doozy.
I think this novel will appeal to fans of YA novels like The Hunger Games and Divergent. There is some mild violence but no sexual situations besides chaste kisses and innuendo.
Alive by Scott Sigler is released in the U.S. on July 14, 2015. You can order it at Amazon or your favorite retailer.
A New York Times bestselling author, Sigler is the author of fifteen novels, six novellas, and dozens of short stories. He is also the co-founder of Empty Set Entertainment, which publishes his YA Galactic Football League series.
