Movie Review: The Void is a Modern Day Throwback to 80’s Lovecraft Horror

The Void is a Modern Day Throwback to 80s Lovecraft Horror

I’d heard a lot of buzz about The Void in the horror movie community, so I was happy to see it pop up on Netflix streaming.

The Void is a trippy piece of horror that harkens back to 80s in style with a definite Lovecraft vibe.

When police officer Carter discovers a blood-soaked man limping down a deserted road, he rushes him to a local hospital with a bare bones, night shift staff.

As cloaked, cult-like figures surround the building, the patients and staff inside start to turn ravenously insane. Trying to protect the survivors, Carter leads them into the depths of the hospital where they discover a gateway to immense evil.

The Void is visually gorey and slightly campy. It gets stranger and stranger until the ending that is a bit on the WTF side. A blend of horror and sci-fi that is a weird slow burn, don’t expect your typical horror movie when you watch The Void.

If you love 80s horror like Reanimator and Hellraiser, give The Void a try.
