Movie Review: Avengers Endgame Wraps Up 10 Years of Stories in Epic Style #AvengersEndgame #SpoilerFree

Avengers Endgame has a lot riding on its shoulders. It not only has to wrap the ending of Avengers: Infinity War in a satisfying way, but it also is the culmination of 10 years of Marvel Universe movies.

It does both beautifully, and as spoiler-free as possible, I’ll tell you why.

First, Avengers Endgame has ALL. THE. FEELS. Seriously. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll cheer. Watching the movie, I ran a full gamut of emotions in the three-hours it took to tell its story.

And that story is huge.

At the end of Infinity War, Thanos snapped his fingers and half the population of the universe disappeared into dust. In Endgame, the original six Avengers – Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, Hulk, and Hawkeye – are dealing with their grief and loss in differing ways.

Floating different ideas on how to bring back those they lost, they realize the key lies in events of the past. This causes them to revisit various moments with a slight twist…and an assist from Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, War Machine, Nebula, and Rocket.

These twists provide closure in some instances, open new mysteries in others, and offer up laughs throughout.

It is a humorous movie, but it needs to be to balance the sad and bittersweet scenes.

The Russo Brothers manage to wrangle all the characters well, giving them enough screen time without sacrificing the story.

It all comes to a head in a truly epic battle scene that also provides a nice #GirlPower scene I hope makes its way into a full film someday.

Avengers Endgame is not just a great superhero movie, but a great movie, period. It’s not just fighting and quips. It has real gravitas and consequences, too.

And that’s about all I can say without spoilers, but I hope you’ll go see the movie. After you do, come back and let me know what you thought of it.

Oh and one final tip: Since the movie is three hours long, I recommend not drinking anything two hours before. If you need to wet your mouth, do so, but no long drinks. Hit the bathroom about 10-15 minutes before the start of the film, and don’t drink anything until after the movie starts.

But if you MUST race to the bathroom during Avengers Endgame, go during the scene where the Hulk is eating lunch. You won’t miss much.

PS: There are no end credit scenes, but do stay for the first part where Marvel offers up a nice tribute to the original Avenger actors.
